Is Tramadol for everyone?
This drug is safe for use by the majority of the adult population. Care should be taken if you have ever had problems of addiction with alcohol or drugs. It is also wise to discuss use if you have been diagnosed with depression or there is any history of self-abuse or suicide attempts. Do not take this drug is you have recently suffered a head injury or there is any history of epilepsy, seizures or convulsions in your medical history.
What to avoid
You should not mix Tramadol with alcohol, nor should you take several different types of painkiller at the same time. This can cause serious side effects. You must take detailed advice if you also take, or propose taking, any antidepressants, anti-anxiety or other drugs which have a sedative or tranquilizing effect.
Tramadol Dosage
The dosage is based on your age and weight. It is important you follow the instructions given by the physician or pharmacist. The dosage will be reduced if you are older or have any disease affecting the performance of your liver or kidneys. If you are given a tablet or capsule, drink it down with a glass or water. Do not crush the tablet or open the capsule. This can affect the speed at which the drug is absorbed into your bloodstream.
What are the side effects?
A very small number of people are allergic to Tramadol. If you overdose you will feel faint, your breathing and heart rate will slow, and there is a risk of seizures. |
